SOUTHWEST MONSOON WEATHER 2024 SUMMER

#1 Postby AzSeca » Wed Jul 31, 2024 5:55 pm

The North American Monsoon is in full swing so starting this thread so anyone in the southwest can post and add their progs and storm data which affect a block of states in the lower left US.

We in Arizona are again in the middle of a bad drought, so any rain is big deal.

Some big action in Tucson and southeastern Arizona currently with Flash Flood Warnings in Tucson around Golf Links and the Santa Rita Mountains, SE of Davis-Monthan AFB. Streets were completely submerged. Storms moving northwest towards Casa Grande and on to the Phoenix area. Not too much rain in Arizona recently so a big surge northward is welcome.
NWS already released warning and Blowing Dust advisories for several counties, all moving north.

Because it's a direct link to the image at that site, which might be limited by bandwidth or will change as it's updated. Please copy the image and upload it to something like IMGUR then link from there. There's a sticky in talking tropics with some instructions I updated this year. https://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopi ... 1&t=111217

Well guess I can't post graphics....that's crappy. Anyway sizzler this weekend as the High is over us and we're expecting temps of 115+ for Sat/Sun/Mon in Phoenix. Asbestos clothing optional. Spotty monsoon storms over Central AZ mountains and down in SE Arizona but not much here at the moment. Everything that popped yesterday blew out towards the Colorado River. So far, nada widespread rain for Phx. Under an Excessive Heat Warning. Welcome to the oven - it's August.

Your picture is giving me loading errors on Imgur so I'm not sure. BUT I right clicked on it and selected open image in new tab, which opens a gif which I'm using the IMG tags to put here.

the link https://i.imgur.com/Wz1QUiD.gif

IMG tags around it.

Active night! Have an inverted trough down around southern AZ/New Mexico, sliding westward. SPC has us under a advisory for Severe, and sure enough there have been big thunderstorms working from SE-to-NW today. One biggie in Scottsdale tonight around McCormick Ranch produced a microburst that blew down whole trees and ripped a roof off an apartment complex. Right now we've got a huge field of rain/thunderstorms from just north of Tucson up through San Tan Valley in South Phoenix area moving west. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING currently for Gilbert, Chandler, Intel area to the northwest. Heavy winds where I am northeast of all that. Roofs and windows creaking. Windchimes going crazy.

Wish I could post radars. Very impressive for some action! Not sure we'll get rain this far north by McDowell Mountains but Hope Springs Eternal. :D

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Pima (Tuc area), Maricope (Phx) and Gila counties. Incoming storms from the Mogollon Rim, winds have already picked up and blowing to the southwest. North Phoenix, Cave Creek, Scottsdale need rain! Massive drought. Hope it's measurable in the raingauges! Kick some buttisimo. Anyone nearby??
