Dumps a ton of sleet as opposed to all snow in DFW. Models having a hard time distinguishing between sleet and snow (accumulation). Better all snow precip types further north you go.

That’s correct, even if temperatures at surface level are above freezing, if the dynamics are in place for winter precipitation and it falls it will cool temperatures at lower levels.

If you're looking at HRRR soundings the warmest layer is about 800mb (between 850 and 700mb) that would make a bit of a difference one way or the other by a degree or two.

After the last 24 hours I will be happy with any combo of sleet and snow. While I love big totals, It makes me happy to look just outside and see everything covered in white.

Light returns over Fort Worth. Anybody seeing anything? Or is it too dry above the Metro?

Snow in Texas, 8th wonder of the World

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Yeah and it's razor close on this run by a degree or two colder upstairs from being all snow to a degree or two warmer to freezing rain or cold rain with dewpoints hovering around 32 so important to watch trends up there with future runs.

This is the returns tropicaltundra is asking about. No reports of any falling, virga mostly at the moment. I know we have a poster in Albany where it might be heavy enough to flurry but can't confirm.

Oh yeah, watching it snow the next county over and you're getting cold rain. The line keeps moving but ever so slowly, hit refresh, refresh!.
