A severe Arctic outbreak could happen in that time frame. Some big time cold is lurking. Should drive straight down the Plains.

Live south of Houston and will be out of town during that timeframe, how far south do you think it will go?

Lots of cold, wintery tears falling in East Texas!
It was real close but doesn't seem like we will win this time. I guess we could get lucky tonight and mid levels cool down as precip ends and get a quick inch early tomorrow.
Nice wishcast. We missed out this time, but we hit it big a couple of times, most notably 02/2021 when we got close to 12" at my house that stuck around for a solid week. Good times.
HRRR and RAP dump on Smith Co tonight, all other models say all rain. Basically its gonna be real cold with lots of something falling.

Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
Something to watch this evening further south. Wouldn't be surprised to see perhaps a brief window (1-2 hours) of some cold rain transitioning to pockets of sleet/snow mix southern/western HC/northern Bexar/into western Travis before it's all said and done. HRRR continues to cool mid- upper levels further east closer to the I-35 corridor as precip is still falling. Obviously wouldn't be much but wouldn't shock me either.

HEAVY snow out towards Amarillo. It's associated with the 700 mb low, any idea which way its going?

Soundings show entire column beginning to cool/warm nose eroding from NW to SE...Heavy sleet returns showing up across DFW on the HRRR short range around 6-7pm before turning over to heavy snow!! Patience boys and girls, the main event is about to begin!!

But I’ve learned never to complain about rain even the cold variety lol.
Will the training line thicken? Not a fan of how narrow it is.

I hope so. It’s looking like a slushy here in Uptown and now just raining.

Radar almost brings a tear to my eye. Widespread precipitation across much of Texas! Man I miss upper level lows over Mexico!

Same now, it dumped snow on me for a short time and coated everything, roads and all. Now it’s turning to a weird grey slush under the rain lol

Wow, a Facebook friend in Alvord posted photos. A ton of snow, at least 5 inches, and not near as much melting since it's pure snow up there.
