Starting to look a little shrimpy, although it’s still visibly dealing with some shear from the west.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

5AM unless the shear relaxes quickly in my opinion.

Well on the way to hurricane status. I would not be surprised if it already is one given the robust core seen in those microwave passes from earlier. It’s going to be quite interesting to see how Humberto and Imelda play out in the coming days- really rare to see two storms this close together in proximity to Bermuda and the US east coast.

Humberto’s current structure kinda reminds me of Danas from the WPAC back in July.

Hard to recall a time where an event is ~ 5 days out and nobody is even sure if it'll make landfall.

The good folks at the NHC are going to be putting in some long hours this week.

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

SAR pass caught the edge of Humberto and showed hurricane force winds along the entire western side. Might already be a hurricane with this data plus the microwave pass earlier.

Well then. Welcome to another Hurricane Humberto, and the sixth consecutive Hurricane Humberto in a row!

Dvorak is noticing a forming eye and shoots up to raw T#6.1. Will be interesting to see whether this contines during the coming hours.

The third hurricane of the season. Below a part of 5 AM discussion.

Humberto has become better organized during the past several hours.
Conventional satellite imagery has shown a growing central dense
overcast, with hints of an eye-like feature near the center.
Microwave imagery revealed a well-defined rain band wrapping around
a vertically-aligned vortex, suggesting the developing of an
eyewall.
