Re: Texas Spring 2026
The weather was great here today, zero complaints. Topped out at 86° with comfortable humidity and clear blue skies.

Seriously I nearly got attacked by something at the mailbox earlier
It is way way too early for this
AccuWeather has blazing sun and heat stroke risk Wednesday Thursday what has happened to us. This whole last few months has shocked me on so many levels here

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Joking aside, we need the rain so definitely no skipping spring in Texas Stratton lol but another front next weekend should knock temps down for a day or two to keep you from that 20th consecutive skipping seasons post.
It's Texas weather though so it kind of goes without saying. Embrace it but hey look at it this way there's always something for everyone here. Summer at times we can definitely debate. Lol.

txtwister78 id tolerate the heat more if it was a dry heat, problem is its a constant humid heat with moisture coming off the gulf so so even 20-30% humidity is enough to make it feel like death outside

Pattern *may* be setting up for a multi day severe weather sequence in the state around the first week of April.

I do not miss the humidity of Houston at all! lol I find that the older I get the more sensitive I am to humidity.

Yeah but that's also called welcome to Houston and living near the gulf. In other words might as well copy and paste that sentiment every year my friend.
Amarillo or Lubbock is waiting for you.

It’s been more of a dry heat lately. Humidity has been tolerable. DP is 60° at my place now. Not too bad.

Houston is trying to skip Spring and go straight to summer. 88F yesterday and it was not comfortable.

Dew points have been in the upper 50’s to low 60’s in and around the Houston area this weekend, that’s quite comfortable, especially for the area. This is nowhere near summer heat.

I just looked up the current conditions in Katy. The DP is 60° and the temp is 84°F with a 15mph breeze. That’s beautiful weather. I could be out in that all day.

Average for Houston is 75/55 and DFW 71/49. So while these temps may not be bad for summer, they are far from comfortable normal for the time of year. I've mentioned before, we shouldn't normalize what isn't truly normal, but warm spells do happen this one a part of a broader longer term spell for months. Should see some rain action at the end of the tunnel.
Also most sites across TX will likely end up hottest March on record given the forecast.

That’s the thing for me, people rationalizing July temperatures in March and thinking “well it’s Texas, it gets hot.” If it was 80 degrees today I’d understand. 95 degrees or whatever it is outside today is alarming. Where do you draw the line? When it’s 105 degrees in March?

No question this is hot for March standards (not quite July temps thankfully) even around here so I get it but it's been very dry obviously for long extended periods so some of this can be attributed to that naturally.
While this early heat wave is definitely unusual it can and has happened before so definitely not alarming in that sense. My point is if you're going to see occassional non seasonable heat extremes from time to time you would expect that to take place in well... Texas? The closer one lives to the gulf, yeah I'd probably watch out for a little extra humidity on top of that as well. Kind of goes without saying.
I just think it's more about perspective. For example for folks who love/prefer cold weather would they complain about highs in the 40's in mid to late October? I'm guessing not. 91 here with dews in the 40's and a nice breeze. Meh. Not all that bad. We just need the rain.
Looking forward to a more active April hopefully with more seasonal temps to follow. Just a little longer.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
While we need the rain badly, with a more prolonged wet pattern on the horizon, will need to watch over time for any sort of flash flooding in the months ahead, el ninos have produced some pretty memorable flooding events in years past, the ground ( rivers and lakes ) in most areas is so dry that it can soak up a lot of rain, but over time as this pattern sets in long term, we got to start watching for flash flooding events

Re: Texas Spring 2026
We can get warm and hot weather in March it’s just the frequency is increasing at an alarming rate.
Pick any weather station in Texas and look at the number of record highs vs lows in the last 25 years. It’s scary the difference… and it’s getting more extreme each year.

Re: Texas Spring 2026
Yeah even up here I'm so done with whatever the heck has happened the last 6 months for sure. It's kind of ironic actually last summer was pretty easy and then ever since it's been pretty much nothing but record highs. I remember how warm it was in October and November even
I mean people warned me about second year Ninas but I didn't quite expect this bad
I guess it's even more amazing now we had our average snowfall despite all this mess
But I won't lie... I've been doing a lot of research about Missouri lately
I dunno it's a very long way off(I'm definitely here for 2 more winters probably) and may not even happen but like that's how bad this winter has been to me on so many levels otherwise
I mean it could just be a one off... I personally didn't feel this way about last winter. I was totally fine with it because it wasn't just one storm that was hyped up and fell flat I guess. That's my other problem with this winter. I'm still remembering the met who came back to TV because it was so historic looking and ended up amounting to light snow for 24 hours
The other thing was Wichita only missed one day of school while we missed 4. I guess things are different right up the road and not necessarily in a good way because that's always been the fun part of the snow
See that's another thing here... I swear every little storm is the worst ever here and I'm kind of over that too. Maybe it's happening everywhere but I don't remember it being this bad before. The best storms have been the ones nobody talks about
