Evening everyone! It was a beautiful day in the 4States Today. Sunshine and a high temp. of 66. Spring is coming! :)

I am heading out in the morning to judge a district one act play and reader's theatre competition. Hopefully it won't take all day, but I love all that kind of stuff. In fact, I am joining the college debate and forensic team next fall. I am excited!

I am also excited because I have felt so good today! :)

Have a great evening everyone.

Now that Rob is safely in bed, I am going to start a vicious rumor: Rob has a staff working for him. How else can you explain the preposterous proliferation of posts! His computer wasn't down. He was installing a local network for his staff to write posts for him!

Hey Rob, I saw Tom Wopat just within the last few years on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun with Bernadette Peters. He was awesome and has a fabulous singing voice, btw.

2 interviews in 2 days both 2 hours long!!!

#852 Postby vbhoutex » Fri Mar 07, 2003 11:24 pm

The interview today went real well I think!! :D Maybe even better that the last one!!! :multi: :multi: : Hopefully I will get a call Monday from the headhunter saying "DAVID YOU NEED TO COME IN NOW AND DECIDE WHICH OFFER YOU WANT TO TAKE!!!!" Now that would be a DREAM COME TRUE!! :bgbounce: :bgbounce:

HEY TICKA!!! WHAT WAS THAT BIG YELLOW THING IN THE SKY OVER HOUSTON TODAY??? It even made it get warm today. It hit 76f at the house today! Once I was through putting on the show I was into the shorts and short sleeve shirt!!! :D

OMG, NOW I MAY HAVE TO FINISH THAT 1/4 MILE LONG HONEY-DO LIST QUICKLY!! :microwave:

I guess I'll sit in the corner tonight away from the heat of the stove. Bet I inch closer before the night is over though! It is supposed to get down to 52f tonight.

Streetsoldier, I think Anabelle is moonlighting giving Belle lessons!! :o :o I swear the dog is AROO AROOing just like Anabelle. And talk about a HO  :o !! Rolling over on her back and spreading her legs, rubbing up against me or one of the family, moaning, etc!!! I don't know, could it be because she's in heat? We were hoping she had gone through menopause!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT AND PRAYERS!! :D They do help and I can feel them working when I'm needing them at the interviews.

vbhoutex, I looked at your profile and you're a CE designer! Wow small world! I'm a CE. What do you do? My group does water and wastewater work, and my company does everything from roads and bridges, land development, stormwater, buildings, etc, etc. If you're interested in a cooler climate, let me know.

Stormcrazy, I have about 4 bucks to my name, until next thursday!

OMG, Coriolis!! Even though I used to swear I'd never go into wasterwater(to much detail work, didn't understand a lot of it, etc.)guess where I've been for the last 10 years??? Yep, the water and wastewater division of my former employer.

These two interviews were with firms that are much more into Land Development(subdivisions and the attendant amenities for those not versed in the genre). The first firm I worked for for 5 yrs in the late 80's until a layoff for basically the same reasons as this one. To top off this whole sudden whirlwind the President of the firm I interviewed with today is the person that laid me off at the firm I interviewed with on Thursday!!! Crazy world!! If I recieve any offers the positon with the first firm would be a senior level designer position with little client contact and minor amounts of project management. The other would be a Senior Designer/Project manager type position with a lot more say in the running of the entire project and mucho client contact and training and mentoring, etc. as it is a much smaller and less established firm. If I get offers from both it is going to be a tough decision unless the moneys are vastly different, which I don't expect.

As far as moving to Williamsport for a job, I would love to. Problem is the wifes parents are here in Houston and we are helping take care of them as they are becoming more and more frail and heading into some dementia and a general decline in health. Until that situation is over, something I am not praying for, but almost wish for them, as I know they are in almost constant pain and just plain tired, we will be here. But I NEVER SAY NEVER!! If the market just isn't here I may have to contact you!

vbhoutex, you sound like my alter ego. I am presently a Senior Designer.
They don't use the term "engineer" in titles anymore because in this state you are not allowed to call someone an engineer unless they are licensed. Even though I am, they settled on the terms designers and technicians. I did some time as a PM, but it didn't work for me. I am more comfortable producing the product rather than selling it. I had a tendency to tell the clients what they wanted to hear, as far as schedules and budgets and caused problems. Fortunately the executives recognized my technical abilities and I am happy "staying at home." We do a lot of municipal work and those night meetings were a drag. Now I'm doing 8-5's and am happy with that. Here's my company's web site: larsondesigngroup.com
The timing you mentioned is probably good, as we hired 4 new people in our department in 2002, and seem to be settled with that. Our backlog extends into 2004 and that doesn't include repeat work that comes up. So it's hard to say what the future holds.

Annabelle stole my cookie I had on my end table!

Well, I had a good sleep for once and yes, I actually shut my computer off from 330am to 9am today! lol I gotta sleep too....sheesh I'm not a posting zombie....oh wait....YES I AM! Anywho, just floating on here a bit and about to have breakfast, something I rarely eat anymore, and then heading out to do some things outside and in the garage to straighten things out and bring the rest of our wood in for the final 3 fires we'll have between now and the next cold spell.....which is certain here.

Time to get dressed and on my way, looks like it will get into the 40s here depending on sunshine and this will possibly melt a few inches of the fresh snow we have gotten recently. I'll be back later in the afternoon and this evening for chat...I will have to have some champagne for this computer operating good now! I'm just holding my breath!
