I wonder how long it will last. I think there are Martians taking them once they touch down or shooting them down as the come in.
Too many have been lost to think otherwise. I mean, we are talking about $100 million worth of technology just not even working when ithas been doing so for the whle journey????

vbhoutex, I was thinking the same thing. The martians should hack them and send them back.
Chad, the cost is comparable to a new football stadium. I'll go for the mars probe.
Maybe they could help defray the costs by sending free introductory magazine subscriptions to the martians with the probe. After one month keep sending the magazines and start to bill them.

First pictures are back...and I don't see a Krispy Kreme anywhere up there! Actually, looks a little like the neighborhood to the west of El Centro, California, to me!
Space exploration is about stretching our limits, learning more about neighbors, and pushing our limits.
I'm with Ed. We can spend similar amounts on a football stadium...I think this is an important investment in understanding our place in the solar system.

No way.. Im talking about ALL the money that we have sank to try and figure out if life was supported some time millions of years ago.. Frankly I just dong give a Chit and think our money could be MUCH better spent.. Maybe Im not looking at it scientificly enough, but what if we find out there was a lake there millions of years ago?

I'm all for space exploration as long as it's done right. I can accept that there will be some failures, except for the one where they mixed up inches and centimeters-- that was inexcusable. But if we can find some definitive answers as to the origin and past history of our solar system, it's money well spent, IMO.

OK, how about TWO stadiums? I'd like to know if I've got relatives there.

I think before they spend money on the Mars probe they should invest money into the Shuttle program so we never lose another shuttle and it's crew again. The money they are spending could be used on research for a procedure for repairing a shuttle damaged in liftoff or in orbit..to insure we never lose another astronaut again. Just My opinion. Before we search for life elsewhere we need to exhaust every means to perserve it here on earth.
