Hello everyone!
We're all moved and settled in, in California...love it here! It took until today for our new phone to be connected, so it's been crazy without phone or internet! Anyway, it's good to be back, good to be settled in here, and many of you check your mail boxes for an email telling of our moving experiences...

Hey Shannon - I was thinking about you all and wondering how the big move was going. Read your email and wow, what a rocky start that was! Glad you found another house quickly though and could settle in.
Welcome back.

Thanks Mary..we've been tested, that's for sure, but you know me, I always try to make the best of every situation. We're actually driving a rental car now, until the house sells, and then I'm going to buy a lime green new little bug car. I love those things, they're simple, and will be much better on gas vs. our worn out seen better days gas guzzling Cadillac. The bug car fits how I'm feeling now a days...is that strange? I think I tend to buy my vehicles based on how I'm feeling in life...guess it's time to be fun and flirty with a little zip! :O) My first car was an old bug car....loved it...and I've had several since...we actually test drove an old 73 Super Beetle the other day, thinking we'd pick it up for Brett, but it's steering box was all messed up...plus he's still only 12...lol.
I enjoyed chatting with everyone in the chatroom lastnight...hope everyone is doing well...
Josh, we're so close now...lemme know if you want to meet at the beach one day...seems that's a part of me from growing up in Daytona that has never left me...the beach still draws me to it, almost every day. And these California are some of the prettiest I've seen....We've driven all the beaches from Oceanside, into Mexico, and this weekend we decided to go North, and hit dana Point, and Laguna Beach....it got real late...we had a super late start, so we turned around and drove home after that. My goal is to make it to Santa Monica pier next weekend. There are so many wonderful day trips here...I love it! Gas is a real killer though...at 2.89 a gallon it's crazy, and the news says we're in for another gas hike...geez!
Days seem so much longer out here, maybe that's because I get up so early and am making the most of them.
The kids best friends are twins here, and their mom works with Brian at the casino. When they were at their friends house yesterday, the mom called from work and said they had just had an earthquake at the casino....that freaked me out! It must have been a very small one, because we didn't feel it here in Temecula. We're in Riverside Co. and the casino is in San Diego Co. So, Josh, tell me about earthquakes...I hear that Temecula gets many and that they rock your whole house...what do I need to do for "earthquake preparedness"????
Not looking forward to one....have you seen on the news where they are calling for a sizable one in this area this summer?
Have a good day all...looks like my posts are making up for lost time!

Welcome to MY home state..'Cali" as it is known.
I was born, educated, met my wife(ex),bought my first Bug AND Truimph, and MG in the S.F Bay Area(Atherton near Palo Alto)WELL to your North.
I lived in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach in the late '70s thru 1981.Hehehehe...lots of fun Babe.Totally bodacious!Go to Balboa Island near Newport Beach and order up a 'Bal Bar'Ice Cream.Yummmmmy!
Frozen Bananas are also fun.
Be sure to have an 'E-Quake' Monkey Wrench for your Gas connection and make sure the water heater is lashed down with as well.
I went thru many Major quakes including the 7.1 MM Loma Prieta Quake in Oct '89.
I used to sail out of Dana Point...very nice.
Enjoy the 'Euerka!' State.
Be sure to go to Big Sur,Yosemite,Lake Tahoe...and my home...S.F.!

DJ...lol thanks for all the "local" advice...I LOVE IT!
You can bet we'll take your advice and visit all of the places you mentioned. It's an exciting state to us, we'll never run out of things to do and new places to visit. We live in what is known as the "Inland Empire", and Brian was reading INLAND EMPIRE Mag yesterday, and there was a story that right now Temecula is the best city to live in in all of California right now...I think a lot has to do with its newness and almost non existent crime rate. It also ranked as the highest median priced city in all of CA in Real Estate, as the Median price is 600k. (I think I previously leased the only crappy house in the whole city!) lol Gas even costs more here than at the beach, or up in the mountains at Big Bear. It's a pricy, trendy town, but so far seems to be a dream of a place for raising kids. If we make CA our permant forever home, you can bet we'll end up in one of the little beach towns...I'll tire of the drive through the mountains to the beach before too long, I'm sure
. So, thanks DJ for the welcome! Feel free to post more fun spots, treats and things to do at will! I'm all ears!
My best friend from my Orlando days is going to be in Palm Springs this week, so I'm supposed to go meet up with him and his friends, there is a big festival going on there this week, or next...and my aunt lives in Santa Cruz, and is coming through here midmonth with one of her friends on the way to a desert camping trip, so I'm excited to see her as well...seeing familiar faces will help, for sure! And Azskyman will be near for Easter....one of these days we'll be able to meet up and say "hi"!
And thanks to YOU, Steph...I can't wait to meet friends here!
We saw Hildago lastnight...it was a decent movie.

I should have said something before but I have been kind of weak and tired this past few days since I got back from my vacation storm chasing trip. The reason for that is I caught a cold while I was gone and I have spent over half of my time since I got back sleeping. I have hardly felt like being on the computer the past few days.
I am feeling better by the day though (drinking plenty of fluids and lots of rest helps, just like your mother will tell you
). So I should be back in full force by Saturday or Sunday. Again my sincerest apologies for not saying something sooner.

Hope you enjoyed your Easter with your mom, Josh.
Steve, hope your celebrations with your family in San Diego were wonderful as well. I thought about you all, enjoying the beach, as we drove through San Diego this weekend, but knew you'd be on your way back home, as we were driving through. There is a little beach/parklike area at the SeaWorld exit off 5, where you can swim, and picnic...have ya'll been there? It was very crowded and looked like a fun place for families to hang out and enjoy picnics...
We were all over the place this weekend...our weekends consist of Sun-Mon. We went to church Sunday, and then over to Oceanside Bch...it was a little cool, so after a few hours we decided to hop back in the car and drive the baja peninsula coast to Ensenada, Mexico. What a pretty drive, once you got through TiJ! Absolutely gorgeous beach views , as the mountains hit the coastline. There are several little beaches "Playas" along the way, and we stopped at one and walked along it, but it was very dirty, the people throw everything, discarded food and all, right there on the sand, and it smelled of rotting food. Had it been uninhabited, it would have been a lovely beach though. There is still some very reasonable oceanfront property for sale in Mexico...*puts a thought in our head...wouldn't it be nice to retire on the beach in Mexico? :O)
We got up real early Monday and headed to Buena Park, Ca, and spent a wonderful day at"Beagle Break" at Knott's Berry Farm...they have some really awesome roller coasters and thrill rides! There were no lines all day! It was so much fun! We headed to Disney Village in Anaheim after the park closed and walked around and had a late dinner at Rainforest Cafe. It made for a long day, but boy did we all enjoy ourselves!
We had really wanted to go to DisneyLand...I'm a Disney theme park freak...but we're getting Ca. Res. season passes and Monday was a blackout date, so it looks like we'll be traveling North again next weekend to get our passes and going to DisneyLand! (I used to work at the Magic Kingdom in my youth, and absolutely LOVE the Magic of Disney). It was such an easy drive to Anaheim..we hit the traffic right...I'm real excited about living here...there is so much fun family stuff to do...it's almost like a 2 day vacation, every week.
Still no offers on our house in Louisiana...it's been over a month now...sure wish something would happen on that!
Well. I hope everyone is doing fine...this thread doesn't get much attention lately. (I think I'm turning it into my personal diary...lol)
Take care all!

Long time no see David!
Yes, we actually started back to class yesterday after almost 1 month off. When we got here to Ca. the local kids were starting a 2 week Spring Break, so I gave this time to the kids to get to make friends and hang out...remember, there were no kids in our old neighborhood! They had a blast...but we got back to business yesterday. They will be enrolled in middle school here next year...they offer schools of excellence here, and the kids will benefit from all the programs the public school offers them. It's going to be strange for me, not having them home and teaching them.
I'm glad our travels are bringing back fond memories for you....you know we love adventure, and where better than the "wild wild west"....lol.

Thought I'd check in and give a pulse back to the PBS. Time to start up the Front Porch again Dennis!
After a surprisingly cool weekend here it is warming up this week. Temps will approach 90 after today which is somewhat above normal but still not brutally hot. Not much chance of more rain and as we get into May and June it will become less and less likely.
Working on some household projects in my free time trying to finish the most extensive outside work before that heat cranks up.
Looking forward to a friday night performance of "Hairspray" by the traveling Broadway group. Am checking out "The Alamo" tonight.
Hope all is well with each of you as you clean up your yards and watch the daffodils blossom in the days ahead.
