False... one of his customers left his shop, filled up at Exxon and it started running bad. He had to remove the gas tank and drain it. Then he had to flush the injectors out until they pump themselves back up. Sometimes water can weaken the injector causing it to leak.

The only way water can get into a gas tank by your statement Helen is if someone deliberatley filled the tank with water using a water hose.

i just dont agree. i know that undergroung gas tanks have the gas intake around 8 inches from the bottom of the tank. if a station were pumping water into peoples tanks, hundreds of cars in a day would have the same problem

let me explain something here. gas is lighter than water. in a 10000 gallon underground gas tank the water settles to the bottom quickly. it does not mix. i worked at a gas station as a cashier once, and we always stuck the tanks every morning, checking for water. if there was more than 3 inches in the bottom of the tank, it had to be pumped out. gasoline and water just cant be mixed.

Actually you should have stuck the tanks to see how low the gas is and then called for them to bring you a load. Supposed to keep so many inches of gas in those underground tanks because if you do not keep it leveled off it will start pumping water at the bottom of the tanks. And that is how water gets into peoples gas tanks.
