#1 Postby FlammingHurricane » Thu May 20, 2004 11:58 am

Hey i went to the beach the other weekend and the waters seem to be little warmer then normal is that normal? The gulf waters are ranging from upper 70's to low 80's is that normal? If so these gulf is going to be like a bath tub with warm water for the storms to fuel off if so we in trouble this season!!!

Happy Hurricaneing

Well the temps are actually a little bit behind according to the anomilies map. Granted still pretty nice for swimming. 8-)

I was out at Las Palmas beach (west end of Galveston) this weekend. Water was pretty cool there. In addition, there were the strongest, highest waves I've seen in a while (aside from those present during a TS or cane, in which case, I'm not going to be in the water!) and the undertow was bear to fight against.

Mostly, the SST's here have been around 77-78 these past couple of weeks, if not longer.

Our SST's have been in the low 80's for about the last week or 10 days now

Well like Aqua said SSTs are still a bit below normal but catching up quickly especially closer to the coast & yep by mid-summer or sooner it will be like bath water all over the GOM & SE coast.

The swimming off of Key Largo is getting toasty.
