No...but I think some tropical storm force gusts in heavier showers are possible along the immediate coast.

The looks of it now puts this system yesterday to shame. I will have to look at obs/satellite first.

Don't think it's moving either. Just sitting there with it's weak LLC and all of the convection being sheared away. This thing was forecasted to make landfall late today and I don't see that happening anytime soon :?:

Maybe some squalls may contain gusty winds of 35-40 mph but nothing more.

Tropical weather so far today...no doubt

#11 Postby EmeraldCoast1 » Mon Jun 14, 2004 1:33 pm

My observations today:

The weather here has been very "tropical" with heavy downpours that stop as quickly as they start. The sky changes its complexion constantly. It's tropical weather without the "storm" or a name connected to it. And no more wind than a typical afternoon thunderstorm. I was in a 25 mph sustained wind this morning during the heaviest of rain showers.

Also, Pensacola airport has had over 3 inches of rain during the past 18 hours. We needed it...bad.

This disturbance will likely be long forgotten by the weekend , but the season has just begun.

The slower it moves, at the current speed or slower, the more of a chance of development. The water temperatures are above 80°.

Great day to go fishing, huh?

Along the coast winds will be 15 to 25mph with some higher gusts.

My groceries were soaked ( Thank god they were in plastic bags ) and i almost droped my drinks. You could hear me across the parking lot, i was the one cussing everytime I walked into a large puddle.

Wal-mart is hard enough without the bad weather, you must have had a rough day :P I'm just glad I don't have to go anywhere today,im sure many major roadways are flooded with water, and rain always brings out the crazy drivers.

At about 7:00 we had a HUGE storm blow through. We got atleast 2 inches in that storm. The winds were also gusting past 30mph atleast. It was quick too....it stormed for about 5 minutes then stoped. There is a break now but on the radar there are more storms heading towards Fort Walton and Pensacola. They should reach Pensacola in an Hour and Fort Walton in about two hours ( its an elongated line of storms ).

Around 9 or 10 o'clock last night,I recieved a 44mph wind gust here in Pensacola Beach. The rain was very heavy too,got a good half inch from that storm. My total rain amount from this system is now a little over two inches.

Storm rainfall total from Thing 1 at my location near Mobile is now over 5 inches and closing in on 6. There is a strong training effect over this part of Mobile County this morning, with the line of showers and storms continuing to build out into the Gulf. 8 inches of rain here sure isn't out of the question.

Rain, rain, rain. A repeat of yesterday so far.
