Satellite image of 94L coming off the COA appears to have an eye?

You know, I don't know the anwer, but yesterday when I looked at a sat. image, I swore it had an eye, even over Africa. Interesting....

...which means the chances of it making it's way all the way across the Atlantic without becoming a fish is slim.

Ahhh... but Fish are the best sort of storms. They're interesting to watch and they stay away from land so no one gets hurt.

So, "Fish" means they stay out to sea...

In any case, does it have an eye? Why is it more likely that a "Fish" will stay out to sea?

Fish is a deffinition- It means a storm that doesn't affect anyone but the fish and shipping lanes. :)

So if it's a Fish- it's not going to affect anyone. The question you're looking for is

Why would this be a fish if it develops early?

I dont' beleive it has a classic eye yet- I hadn't heard if it had circulation at the surface. Remember Charley looked lovely as a TD and as a TS but wasn't classified as a hurricane until much later :)

I dont agree

this monster wave that looks far better than most TD we see in the mid atlantic is at a decent 11-12 N latitude.

There trough coming through next Monday Tuesday does not drop south of 30N so if this TW TD can get past 40-45 and stay south of 20-25 we have a good chance of seeing a long duration event...

Most of the global models show a Huge Ridge in the central Atlantic all next week centered 30-35 N and 50-55 w...

It's well known that the better organized...the more poleward a storm will move over time. That, at least, is the simple answer. However, there have been more than one far Cape Verde system to make it to the U.S. coast. So it certainly does not need to be written off just yet as a fish storm.

Oh, no. Not again. We're evacuating tonight for Charley and heading to St. Maarten next Saturday! I'm so exhausted now from all the preparations that I'll probably sleep through Charley and just be getting my strength back for Danielle!

Good luck to all in Florida. Be safe.
