114 and 120 was the measured velocity. Winds were certainly higher elsewhere.

Hope everyone stays safe down there.

This was meant as a joke about the free tolls... free tolls was about Frances... this may not be going on in FLA... please notice the difference.

Lady on the phone talking to channel 4 Miami...form the Bahamas...either San Salvadore or Cat island...not sure. The winds are roaring inthe background. Unbelievable that she can talk on the phone.

Thanks Mike! I just thought that it was one of the signs of a potential move.

Also given the fact it's moving very slowly, it will have a better opportunity to deepen again before landfall. the area between the Bahamas and the east central Florida coast is the area I'm concerned about as this thing could easily stall and strengthen again. This is a very dangerous situation for east central Florida due to extensive wind damage and high surge, which will be prolonged by the slow movement of this system. The thing I'm especially worried about is dangerous and deadly flooding rains. Rain totals of 10-15 inches is likely in Florida with local amounts of over 2 feet possible. Another area from southern Georgia through southeast Alabama and the Florida Panhandle could also see devastating rains of 2-3 feet possible. We never want to see a large hurricane or even an average sized hurricane like this one slow to a stall. But I'm afraid that is a grim possibility as we go through this labor day weekend.

Heck, we took 110-140mph from Charley right outside my walls from this keyboard.

Another personality trait of Frances' is her maintenance of windspeed during ERC pressure fluxes. She also did this two nights ago going from 949 to 956 while maintaining 120mph. She then strengthened to 145 over the next two days...

How did anyone ride out the storm on San Salvadore? Wouldn't the storm surge have covered the island, or is it bigger than it seems to appear on the map?

Is it saved somewhere AFM? Or did you just happen to catch it on the live feed?

Bring it on. Air Force Met Steve lyons said about a hr ago the dry air all around it is hurting it. He said prepare for a 4 but might get a two. Enough already boarded up and ready. Bring it on.

was probably the live feed from cbs4.com, definitely check it out, all of you out of the area. They just also mentioned, re turnpike, there's a 30 mile backup on the florida turnpike going north, around yeehaw junction, yikes.
