House in PBG hit by lightning in last squall
I just heard that a house in our development was hit by bad lightning during the last squall. That's why our power is out. Supposedly, it knocked off a lot of the tiles on their roof. Now, I'm really scared.

He's probably assuming you are posting from a battery powered laptop computer.
Hopefully you have all your hurricane preparations in place and you are in a sturdy home. Be sure to stay in a safe place. Talk with us here, it'll help to talk with people and share your experiences and thoughts as the storm moves in. Some of us have been through these storms before.

I *hope* we have prepared. But unfortunately, we did it all too late because we just didn't know what to expect or do. We couldn't get enough plywood to board up all the windows, so only some are boarded. We bought food that will hopefully do enough for us and hold up. We have lots of water. We have a few flashlights, not enough batteries, because we couldn't get them. We have lots of cash because we bank at Bank One and they were like the only ATM that still had cash. We have very little gas in the car and my husband gave up after driving around for a long time trying to find some and using the gas he had! My husband bought me lots of wine as he figures I might need it! Other than that, I've never been so terrified in my whole entire life.
I'm sooooo glad you're all here. Thank you for letting me vent.

The waiting and wondering is the worst during these kinds of things. I for one usually calm right down when the crisis is right at hand...but feel panicked while waiting. While you're going to have a very rough time over the next 24-36 hours, we're all hoping and praying that it won't be nearly as bad as the fear you have right now.
