Help me understand ...

#1 Postby siobhan222 » Sat Sep 04, 2004 3:03 am

When I look at this:

http://weather.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... kamx.shtml

I see a lot of this blue, green and yellow, already here. But is that not the worst of this? Is the worst of this still out there on Grand Bahama?

Gosh, I really wish I understood this better. I'm frantic.

It is a question of angular momentum.

(Translation) When you see a figure skater on ice spinning around, when her arms are stretched out she spins slower, and when she pulls her arms to her body she spins very fast.

Thus the closer to the eye the greater the winds rotate around it.

Hope this helps.

Excellent analogy FritzPaul. Thank you very much. Without you folks, I'd be in an even worse state than I am.

Rain, I can deal with. I lived in Ireland for 9 years. There are 9 months of winter and 3 months of rain there. But they don't have hurricanes or high winds. And this is so so so scary for me.

Thank you again.
