Lyons just made reference to Ivan becoming cat 5 but said cat 5s usually can't sustain the intensity.Guess he doesn't remeber Mitch or Gilbert

I'm just in awe of nature's fury tonight....turly unbelievable.

And you know what...mother nature couldn't give a hill of beans about what Rainstorm, or anyone else thinks.

It's time to be a strong human being Rainstorm. Keep your head up and take what the good Lord gives you...

Bellyaching will just add to the misery of whom ever will have to deal with Ivan's fury...

Perhaps we should rate the posts so those that are squeamish to pictures of the storms and the comments written would read and look at their own risk - similar to an "R" rated movie -

How about just "SGC" - Storm graphical content and comment - not for those viewers who are offended by graphics and comments from other posters that enjoy watching a weather event form and ride with the forces of nature that human beings have absolutely no control over. DISCLAIMER: This is in no way intended to portray posters of such content as thrill seekers of death, destruction, but only as students of mother nature.

The only good news is it's doing this over the open water. I can't imagine this barrelling towards Florida or anywhere in the U.S. right now looking like this.

If you are really that appalled you'd get the funk out of here and stop reading that which upsets you so.

But I suspect you're not really appalled at all.

Hello Cheese !!!!
It's a whole different story when you live along the coastal areas.
I think we need to cut rainstorm some slack.
I don't fear the storms but I sure as heck respect them.
Nature is indeed awesome.

Look, rainstorm. We get it. You're appalled. You've made your point perfectly clear. But this is a board for people fascinated and enthralled by hurricanes. And we can do without the moral grandstanding.

We don't want anyone to suffer. We just like seeing powerful hurricanes. Your moral high horse is really getting old.

This is a risk we accept by living in coastal areas that are affected by tropical systems.

Will the 11 pm update say WEST?

#1397 Postby BReb » Wed Sep 08, 2004 9:17 pm

or will they try to tell us that it's moving WNW? It seems like some of the directions they publish are almost politicized to conform to models, predictions, etc. We've got about 5 hours here in which Ivan has gone maybe 275 and that seems to be an objective fact.

He seems to be pointing to the southwestern point of Haiti. Could he be telling us something?
