Eclipse - A matter of perspective!

#1 Postby Vimala » Wed Oct 27, 2004 3:47 pm

"Greetings from the moon.
We are greatly anticipating the earth transit which we shall be viewing from the Earth Museum in the Sea of Tranquility.
We will be watching your planet transit our sun with great delight this day [your night].
Will you be watching us?"

I'll say:

From the National Weather Service, Raleigh, NC -----> Tonight. Cloudy. A slight chance of rain until early morning. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Actually, since the Earth will cover the Sun completely as seen from the Moon, it's a Total Solar Eclipse there instead of a Planetary Transit. In fact, Transits are considered eclipse phenomena rather than the other way around.
