TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A strong earthquake has rocked northern Taiwan.

There are no reports of serious injuries or damage following the quake, registering 5.7 at its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean near the coast.

Authorities say a number of buildings were shaken in Taipei, about 30 miles from the quake's epicenter.

An earthquake measuring 7.6 that hit central Taiwan four years ago killed more than 2,300 people.
