First it was Dan Rather now Tom Brokow steps down

#1 Postby cycloneye » Wed Dec 01, 2004 2:52 pm

NEW YORK CNN -- When speaking with reporters recently ahead of his final broadcast tonight as the "NBC Nightly News" anchor, Tom Brokaw offered one bit of advice for his successors: Don't listen to what they say about you in the press.

Now two of the big three news anchors of past decades are out as Brokow will be at the final broadcast tonight of the NBC nightly news.

I didn't realize Tom Brokaw was stepping down tonight! I knew he had announced his leaving. Who is replacing him?

Brian Williams. This has been known for a LONG time now. Brian has been the chief fill-in for Tom for at least 2 years now and was hand-picked by Brokaw to replace him. Tom will still do some documentaries on "The Greatest Generation" and may write more books as well.

So long Tom... enjoy your retirement. :(

Actually it was Brokaw first before Rather, but who's keeping track???

Jennings is my least favorite of the three. Maybe he will retire soon.

Rather is stepping down in March... Brokaw stepped down this past wednesday... Brokaw wanted to leave at the day after the election, but due to November sweeps, he stayed. Sweeps ended this past wednesday. Rather is stepping down after February sweeps. (sorry... I intern at a local NBC station)... now the last remaining member of the 'big three' is Jennings... who knows when he will retire (It's the same way with the local ABC anchors... true guessing game of torture!) The female anchor is like 55+ and horribly annoying (she is a dinosaur hence the reason that station is first in the market...also the chief met doesn't know how to dress himself and he isn't smooth!) Its a horrible newscast to watch IMO. We're the 69th Market... you think they could find some better anchors!
