I'll tell you what..I've had 6 or 7 cell phones, everything including Nokia, Panasonic, Motorola, Kyocera, and the best one yet is my latest. It's an LG VX6100. It's a camera phone, does everything you could want it to do, except shoot video. Earpiece volume is great, text messaging is a snap...

I think Verizon might have the exclusive on this phone...but I could be wrong. We got ours for $79 and the 2nd one was free!

but didnt you have to sign up for a 2 year contract?

i would think it all depends on what you're going to use the telephone for. If it will be your sole means of communication, i.e. you wont have a phone at home, then you might want an expansive plan. But if you need to just for emergencies, then maybe a pre-paid phone might work better.

That is true... I think Virgin wireless has a phone for around 60.00 and the calling card minutes from 10-100 minutes... I got one of those sprint to sprint cell calls are free, nights and weekends are free, and 1000 anytime minutes, and I pay 60.00 a month for 2 phones... I am happy with it...

I meant about the 79 camera phone. i think that incurs a two-year commitment.

Yes you have to sign a two year contract with Sprint PCS. Also with Cingular.

That is correct. I got rid of my land line 2 years ago--don't need it! We have free in-Network, free nights and weekends, and we share 800 anytime minutes for $79.99. ($59.99 for 1 line plus $20 for any additional line). Its a nationwide plan so I can use it anywhere as long as I'm on Verizon network w/o roaming.

On the camera end of things, we pay an extra $2.99/month which gives us up to 100 text messages + 20 pictures (you can take as many as you want--this is how many you can send using your phone).

Previously had been with SunCom, using the Unplan (unlimited minutes for 49.99/month), but got tired of poor quality phones and terrible customer service. I agreed to sign up again before switching to Verizon when they offered me new phones and 3 free months on each line. They sent me 2 terrible Panasonic phones (could barely hear incoming calls and had some serious Network problems) which I promptly packed up and shipped back to them.

Hope this helps!

Also...you can get 1 year deals also, but usually with the cheaper phones.

Happy shopping!~

Same here, except mine's a Siemens C61 and the minutes are through i wireless (local company offered via Cincinnati Bell [local phone company]). Either way, I love the no contract thing!

I have been very happy with my Samsung phone and SprintPCS, with web browser, email, etc.

However, Josephine96, you need to take a look at the Cingular/ATT service now that they have merged --- better reception in FL is what friends have told me. I'm about ready to make the switch myself.
