Have you felt earthquakes in your lifetime?

That was 1981. My mom felt that one.

As for me, I haven't experienced one. YET.

Edit: There was one in 2001, don't remember where it was, but it did shake the house a little bit, and as a result, there was a few things that fell down on the floor.

Having been born and raised in the SFO Bay Area and then having spent 9 years in the Philippines, I can say that I've felt a few ( ). The strongest was a mag 7.0 that caused some damage and fatalities in Manila. I was at work on the mid shift in the weather station at Clark AB and I spent the tremor under a steel desk wondering if the building was going to cave in on me. We had a strong aftershock the next night about 24 hours after the main shock.

There was an earthquake in Birmingham last year. I felt in just north of London, but I know people further south also felt it. The earthquake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale.

I have not, and I hope I never do. However, being close to the New Madrid Fault Line, it is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

Back in the early 70's, there was one felt across much of Illinois overnight...it was strong enough that it woke me out of a sound sleep.

We thought maybe it was an explosion, but later learned it was a mild earthquake.

With my two sons living in California, we are bound to feel one or more in the future. They have already felt several.

I felt a pretty good jolt while we were living in the Philippines in the 80s. It knocked dishes off the shelves in my china cabinet.

Have felt a couple in Alaska and California too. NOT FUN.

One time while living in Cincinnati...(this happened in either the late seventies or early eighties) there was a very minor tremor.

In November of last year when I was living in Roanoke Rapids, NC...I was at work but didn't feel a thing...BUT...my Mom was at home and she felt it...said there were dishes rattling in the cupboards...from a minor quake which originated in VA.

I think that might have been the same one I felt in Lexington. I don't remember what year, but I remember they said on the news that it originated at the New Madrid fault and I remember that it was at the house we first lived in when my mom and I moved from Louisville to Lexington, so it must have been early 80's.
