I exercise outside about 5 days a week spring through autumn. I have to admit I"m pretty much a slug during winter.

Got some more recovery to go yet on some leg surgery, but I am hoping to be back to 100% by March 1st when I love the outdoors here in the desert the most. Then, I will do my walking and hiking to start...right on past the Golds Gym down the street, around the corner and right on past the Mountainside Fitness Center.

To make me feel better, I'll check out the nearby retirees and verify that they are in their recliners watching Wheel of Fortune while I'm speeding by at about 3 1/2 miles per hour.

In the summer, though, I do get pretty serious about the laps in the pool.

I made it a New Year's Resolution, and im starting with 1-1.5 mile jogs every night followed by going to the gym for an hour or so every other day. Usually do free weights and various exercises at home to supplement. Feels great :D .

Back in the spring/summer/fall I was biking about 3 times a week, about 30 miles each time. I took about a month and a half off, though, while we were moving. I rode 1200 miles in 2004 and am hoping to do much better in 2005. I actually got out on new years day for a mountain bike ride.

I have so many debilitating physical ailments, stacked one atop another, etc., that I let Coppertop do all my exercising for me. :larrow: :(

I usually go on a five mile run sometime during the day. Don't like lifting weights but I do it so as not to be too scrawny. Running and cycling are more my type of exercises though.

Need to start martial arts again when I can afford it.

Does working in a grocery store count as a workout? ;) Or does walking, sprinting a medium-sized university campus work? (Must admit though that I use the elevators, so I guess that does not count a bunch either.)

LOL - I tried this once! I'm a cancer survivor but after I recovered from my surgeries, my doctor said I had to exercise every day. I explained I did lots of running - driving my kids to and from extracurricular activities, walking in and out with them for practices and lessons. Running so many errands, it was crazy back then (my oldest drives now, thank heavens!!!). After I finished explaining how busy I was, he smiled. Then said - no, that does not count. Not at all! That's when he said I had to get my heart rate up and to choose one of four - running/jogging, walking, bicycling, or swimming laps (the best one of all 4). I figured I'm pretty clutzy, so forget the running or biking, I don't like to swim so that left walking. And walking I did for several years (see earlier post). I can attest daily exercise does make a difference - you feel great but it takes 2 weeks to see the added benefits (not to mention losing weight).

Git yer mind outta the gutter! I think he's seriously talking about exercising regularly, as part of a New Year's resolution.

(You are, aren't you, Chad? :) )

Of COURSE it does.....people who have never worked the business have NO IDEA as to how many MILES you walk every single day or the extreme amount of weight you lift. Being a retired meat mgr/cutter, I can't TELL you how many TONS of meat I've lifted over the years, literally TONS (I mean, cows and pigs are exactly SKINNY)

Same here. Besides my work (which is a little physical) and wallking campus, eating is the "only" other "exercise" I do; that and exercising my fingers on the computer, pushing elevator buttons, and oh, yes, driving to get that full arm workout when I have to drive to the convenient store only 1/4 mile away!
