My Grandson has a question.

He asks about the great Nor'Easter of 1992. where did it form?and where did it end up? did it impact Europe? or did it dissipate near Newfoundland?

I dont think Noreasters should be named. I think they should be # however..

What would the effect of naming be on homeowner's insurance?

Our homeowners insurance changed recently in Massachusetts and claims for named storms go into a different category than damage from unnamed storms.

Don't understand the legal ramifications, but there are some.

A Nor'Easter can be very destructive and can destroy houses, roofs, other property and people die in Nor'Easters.

I know I'd be a whole lot more excited about winter in general if they started naming Winter Storms in general, not only Nor'easters.

The problem with that is winter storms and nor'easters are often a conglomeration of systems instead of a single entity like a tropical cyclone is. That would make naming a bit impractical as one part of it dies and another is born.

To me that would be like trying to name Severe Thunder Storms here in TX. They don't need to be named but they should be kept track of by a number or date system.

They could all have names like Brrrrian and Brrrrrandy. :)
