I guess the expiration date will be when Sharon Resultan finally shows her age and/or is given the "pink slip"?

Looks like they stepped back in time a couple of decades. The old one is so much better. I can make a better logo on Paint with 5 minutes of my time.

I should get George to design them a new one. He's developed quite a talent for graphic art. 8-)

I'm assuming they changed the logo to follow suit prior to the InteliSTAR Local Forecast style in cable systems.

One person from another messageboard site came up with his own TWC slogans such as:

- "We're there for you...after 'Storm Stories'"
- "Raising weather from the dead" as opposed to "bringing weather to life"
- "Your weather doesn't count" (that's the logo for the west coast)
- "TWC, see what's brewing"
- "Wake up and smell the weather"
- "Your accurate weather source...knock on wood"
- "SOME weather we have here"
- "Your local weather source, unless you have satellite"

There are more, but I think these will do.

And ending up getting arrested for it.

Anyways, I could've done that new logo in 30 seconds on a drawing program.

The logo could've been better with a tornado behind it or a hurricane, thunderstorm, sunny weather, just something that enhances the newer logo.

Yeah, I know I'm digging this up, but TWC just swiched their logo's this week.

Very few people liked the logo because it blends in with the maps. I wonder how.

James (who some of ya haven't seen in a while) said that the logo is "kinda drab".

A press release from TWC web site

The Weather Channel Changes Its Look, “Bringing Weather to Life”

Brand Updates its Visual Identity on August 15; Programming Update to Follow

Update: Aug 15, 2005

ATLANTA - On August 15, viewers of The Weather Channel will watch as an updated, more vital brand begins to make its appearance on the network. The Weather Channel new branding campaign – “Bringing Weather To Life” – will premiere with a new logo and tagline, and herald the launch of a series of exciting new programs on the network.

“Bringing Weather to Life” has the goal of putting greater emphasis on viewers’ emotional connection with the weather and their reliance on The Weather Channel as their window to the weather. The new brand shift is also designed to add a new flavor to The Weather Channel core programming offerings and daily forecasts. These new broadcasts will include more long-form programs, a four-hour weekend show, and the debut of new on-camera talent.

The re-branding follows extensive research that identified a large segment of loyal TWC viewers who are parents and professionals with a sense of discovery, and who frequently pursue weather information. “We realized that our viewers have a real connection to the weather, and they rely on us to help them plan their days, weekends, and a large part of their lives,” says Wonya Lucas, executive vice president of marketing, The Weather Channel. “Our new brand philosophy – “Bringing weather to life” – reinforces our role as our viewers’ ‘window to the weather’ and increases the considerable value we have to our audience.”

“The Weather Channel provides a true public service to the viewers we serve,” says Debora Wilson, president of The Weather Channel. “We are a network that has a mission based largely on serving public need, and our commitment to that mission is answered in viewer loyalty. Our re-branding is, in part, a way for us to answer our viewers’ commitment to us with programming that is more useful, with a product that is more rewarding.” She added that the new branding and programming was intended to convey a little more of the network’s refreshed “attitude.”

After the August 15 roll-out of The Weather Channel new logo and tagline, new programming will begin to appear with the September 17 launch of “Weekend View,” a Saturday morning program designed to help viewers plan and enjoy their weekends, offering reports from remote locations throughout the United States that are host to unique events.

Does this mean a new rash of hiring bobbleheaded blondes?

BTW, my Avatar reflects the recent growth in faith and practice within the streetsoldier's home...and, no, I didn't rush the police cordon to give water to Terri; she's with Him now, and such things are best left to Him. :larrow:

The logo is extremely hard to see against the blue background. As for new talent... please do not get bobblehead blondes!
