Even after the fact, the school wanting to cover it up to avoid negative coverage. Inexcusable!!
And the kids involved should PAY big time! They're old enough to know what they were doing. :grr:

Kelly... I think you hit the nail on the head. This was a high school... these kids are culpable and should be punished. It also sounds premeditated.

Do ya'll not have zero tolerance in your schools up north??? I know down here you get kicked out of school and the police called for having fingernail clippers or a nail file....but for basically rape and they wouldn't call the police?????

Those administrators should be fired and their teaching certificates taken away if that is the way they treat students.

Unfrigginbelievable!!!!

Something needs to be kicked there, it starts with the first letter of the alphabet and is followed by two s's.

First off, the principal/school that attempted to cover this up...could (should) be held for withholding evidence and information (or misprision) and SHOULD serve time behind bars for this...

Also, this completely opens the door for lawsuits against the school/administrators which should rightfully be won by the victims' in this case...

Throw the book at the offenders, both the assaulters and the school admins responsible for trying to silence the victims.

As I've mentioned before, I am the most mild-mannered and patient person you could ever come to know. I've even been told I have "the patience of a saint."

Had I walked in on that situation, my rage would have been instantaneous and I would have taken on all of those "boys" without looking for any help whatsoever.

My hidden gallery of four-letter words would have barked out of my mouth so fast that the ones I would have physically missed during the ordeal would have been verbally beat to a pulp.

I probably would have been hospitalized first, arrested second, and worried about my reaction third.

I once witnessed a mother and child altercation at Sam's Club where I had to leave the building before I lost it.

Something about those kinds of situations where innocence is being overpowered that does that to me.

It's a shame...and shame on the school board if they don't clean up every little bit of responsibility that needs to be assigned.

The school officials sicken me just as much as the rotten kids who inflicted themselves upon this poor girl, and the students that stood by and watched....OMG...what is WRONG with these people???

I certainly hope that the press picks up on this and that everyone, the perps, bystanders, and unconcerned school officials that wanted to cover their @$$'s ALL be held responsible for this...an example needs to be made out of every single person involved...there is too much sickness going on with our kids today, and why should they even be concerned that what they are doing is wrong, if the school is setting the example that its NO BIG DEAL...how are these kids going learn about consequences?? This story really makes me angry....Bravo J and Chad for sending it on to guys who hopefully will make a difference in this incident...

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT THEY "PERPETRATORS" WILL PAY DEARLY. THE SCHOOL WILL PAY DEARLY. I HOPE THEY ALL BURN. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT PISSES ME OFF MORE IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES. I HOPE THEY GET SENT TO JAIL AND TASTE BUBBA'S WRATH.

Rape as punishment for rape? Yeah, that's a good idea.

what is happening to so many schools that they just want to sweep things like this under the rug? what is the answer here? are the administrators getting in trouble when they DO report incidents such as this? what is the deal? if that's the case, then things need to change quickly and those that DO report such things should be commended - not reprimanded or fired. And i truly think that ethics should be taught in all schools today starting in elementary.

as in the other little girls case, i so hope that this girl can one day deal with the trauma she has been subjected to.

You better believe we it!! At Colmer Middle School a girl saw a loose piece of thread on a boys shirt. She innocently removed it and the assistant principal came storming over and told her if she touched him again she would send her to the youth court for sexual harrassment. I know that is ridiculous but it happened all the same!

I'm a firm believer in the zero tolerance policy in all schools...unfortunatly our schools don't incorporate it...kids at my kids middle school aare allowed to hold hands, hold each other....hug and kiss, etc.... I chaparone all the school dances and I have a fit over what is allowed...the close dancing...kids all over eachother, etc...the schools rules are much laxer than mine...not good, is it?

So, reward other felons by letting them engaqe in sexual offenses against fellow inmates? And what happens when those felons are released? They'll believe that anytime they feel an injustice has been done against them, they can rape that person (since it's really all about control and power). And the cycle continues.

It's a stupid means of punishing the offenders, if you ask me.

As a school administrator I must caution you all to wait for additional information. I would be willing to bet that there is much more to this story. I do agree that the school did not handle it properly based on the above article but again I cannot believe that the above is a complete and accurate depiction of events at the school.
Thanks,
Tim

Indeed not! I had to bring my daughter another shirt at her school dance because the then Principal said her shirt was too revealing. The shirt was a V-necked sweater for goodness sakes!!

depotoo, I do not like the assistant principal at Colmer (Maria Midgett). And is why I removed my daughter from there. IMO, she is on borrowed time. There are parents who allow her to continue this type of behavior, but not me. She has no business being around children or teenagers.

Exactly the opposite. It is called rehab not punishment. Prisoners who are released who have been raped in prison are more likely not to do it in soceity because of the physical brutality they went through...
