Hey Furry, sorry I didn't read the posts about your "food poisoning" before I stopped to say HI yesterday. Glad you are feeling better.
And Karan and Dennis...your blues will blow away with more fresh air and a project or two. Just took my car in for some service and walked back home (about 2 miles) at 7 am and it was glorious here! Birds singing, fresh air, sun on my face, and no wind. Being outside is a great way to brush away the blues!
Have been a little hesitant to be out walking the last two days. Just three blocks east of me we had a man on a motorcycle murdered by a gunshot while he was passing through our neighborhood...and for the first day or so, police did not have a clue as to who might have done it. They now have a couple of suspects and the weapon in their custody; looks like it was not random, which gives us a sigh of relief. Still, I'm not used to coming home from work to yellow crime tape in the neighborhood and a body in the street just 15 doors east of us. Caution is still the order of the day until they announce that a suspect is in custody, however.
I doubt most of you have unsolved murder issues in your neighborhood, so get out and enjoy the weekend if it allows. And if, by chance, you have storms or rain in the forecast, enjoy that too. I am always in awe of a turbulent sky!

Yikes, Steve! That's definitely an uneasy situation to
come home to! Hope the person(s) are caught so
life can return to some normalcy, there.
LoL, furluv, you're just going to have to buy yourself
an American stars and stripes bathing suit to wear on
the French beach!
With this being my only day off, this week, I am
slowly attempting to get some housechores done, but,
I can't seem to muster the adrenaline surge that I
really need!
I'm working an extra shift at the
hospital, tomorrow, but, the extra $$$ always comes
in handy!
Everyone have a great Saturday!

Great idea Annette, and go figure, I already have one
.
Steve...yikes...thats scary. Keep us updated on that story, and keep your head up. Thanks...I'm all better now.
It is a beautiful day, here in Shreveport and I think I need to get out of here and get my butt outdoors! Part of the kids homework assignment is to "Lay in the sun, and get a base tan", so I'm going to join them....Has anyone ever spent the day face down in the water, snorkeling, and then later realized the back of their body was a french fry? LOL..Thats happened to me, so we're sunning our backsides this week!
Taking your advice Steve, and heading out!

Well ya see Tom, I told you we're leaving next week for our cruise, and we'll be in the hot sun alot. We all snorkel for hours, and when snorkeling, you're face down in the water, with your backsides above water, and the reflection from the water makes you tan, or burn especially quick, even with good sunscreen. My children do not generally get homework assigned to them, since they are schooled at home as it is, so as creative parents, we decided to make tanning a fun assignment for them when school hours are over! They need to get a good base tan, so as to not burn so readily in Mexico!

Howdy ya'll. I am back a day early from my trip to Columbia. I see now why I didn't go to a big University. It is party city there...that's really not my thing. All the competitions ended this afternoon so Darla and I came home.
Good to relax on the front porch this evening!
See ya'll,
Garrett

I see Shannon. Too much sun may cause skin cancer, so be careful. Use and reapply the sunscreen.
Welcome back, Garrett.
Didn't have thunderstorms today, although the chances weren't as high as yesterday... they did exist. I posted the Convective Outlook from the National Severe Storms Forecast Center in Norman, Oklahoma in the USA Weather forum.

hello everyone. My roommate was using my puter to type something up, so I resorted to doing my homework (darn professor!) Chemistry take home exam...interesting piece of work...I'm glad some of us are getting together to work on it!!! :o
Shantytown was a huge success...it wasn't that cold. I was quite warm with many layers and a heavy duty flannel sleeping bag (it helps that my mom and step-dad LOVE to camp!) Everyone else complained about the cold conditions.
Youth Build has built up literally! The house trusses are up, 3 walls of the garage are up...its really looking like a house now. Its nice that we get to work right along side of the homeowner! She is just amazed of the progress!!!
I hate when this happens! As some of you know, I am an employee of the Fox Cities YMCA (Neenah-Menasha Branch). In order to keep a FREE membership, I need to work at least 5 hours a month (which I do). I received a BILL in the mail for $456 in membership fees!
Yes, a BILL for $456.
So, needless to say, the Membership department is going to get a nice little phone call on Monday! This is the first bill that I have seen...and I've been at NMY for 5 years now!!!

...did you get some color??? You can have mine if you want it (yup a little sunburn thanks all in part to the Youth Build) That has to be one tough assignment
Snorkeling...you lucky dog!
Poppysky...that is unfortunate news. IMO, that's too close for comfort!
Garrett...besides the party atmosphere, how did the conference go?

Hello all
I just popped on a bit before heading to bed. I have to get up very early in the morning. I haven't been on here much lately because we've been working on some major projects on our house and it's taking up most of my time. I'm killin' myself I tell you. Working my butt off!! I am glad to say that we are probably at least 2/3 done though.
We had a scare earlier tonight around dusk. I was talking to my mom on the phone when her next door neighbor came over crying and panicked because her little girl was missing. We're all very close to that little girl and my niece and her are very good friends. She's 9 years old. Anyway, she was out selling Krispy Kreme discount cards on her bike and kept reporting back home each time she sold one. It's a nice neighborhood and they know most of the people in the immediate area. She didn't come home after quite a while and her bike was not in front of the next 2 houses she was supposed to go to or any other houses in the area. As expected, her mom pretty much freaked out. The police came and a lot of neighbors were searching. I live about 5 minutes away and I dropped everything to go and look too. We finally found her at a neighbor's house visiting! She had parked her bike in the garage and it couldn't easily be seen. Anyway, thank God she was ok. Now I'm sure after her mom hugged her dearly they had one long talk!
Goodnight everyone

That panic feeling is very real!
And little kids don't think about things like putting a bike in a garage. I'll bet her parents were both angry and happy to have her back.
With us now having a granddaughter, I am more conscious about situations in public that can be so scary. She's too little right now to head out on her own, but that time is not far away.
And while she too lives in a seemingly safe and wonderful neighborhood, she lives barely three miles from the nightmare of David Westerfield and Danielle Van Dam...a constant reminder that her parents must always be vigilant as her world expands.
Hey...it's beginning to heat up here in Phoenix. May hit 92 this afternoon! Have a nice Sunday wherever you are.

Morning everyone!
Looks like a nice and sunny day before a week of rain chances. I am still a little tired, but I am looking forward to a busy week: I have a European dinner to attend Monday night, I am speaking at a scholarship meeting on Tuesday night, and I have one exam on Wednesday and two on Friday.
Yeesh! Oh well... it will keep me on my toes.
Have a great Sunday,
Garrett

Good morning everyone. Been away for a few days so thought I'd stop in and say hello.
Tis a special day as we all know today.
Yesterday was fun, but details of that are coming in another thread.
The weather here started overcast but it is now clearing up. Temps are currently in the upper 50s. It has been this way for some time.
Hope you all have a great Sunday. Joshua the Birthday Guy

Garrett...that's good to hear.
I'm going to call the Neenah-menasha Y to get this lovely BILL settled...I have worked there for 5 years and they are now expecting me to pay $456 in Membership fees...I don't think so!
I'll keep you informed...I may have to make a special visit this week sometime to talk with Jodi (our membership coordinator).

WooHoo!!! Karan's alive!!!
I'm glad I finally pushed the right button to get you back!!! Don't be such a stranger!! And no more blues allowed!!!
That Chardonay will cure just about anything!! But I can't think of a time I've gardened and had wine. May have to try that one. Could lead to some interesting planting designs! :o
BTW Karan, I've had to eat all the KK's while you were away! I was starting to get tired of them! NOT!!!!
Glad you're feeling better these days! We'll have to have a chat session on the porch some evening soon to catch up.
Garrett, I knew Columbia was a party town. That's why I worried about you!!
j/k There is a lot to be said for the smaller Universities, including less partying available sometimes. We're gonna rename you Pojo, JR. unless you slow down a little!!
Man, you spoiled my weekend!!! They watched me like a hawk while you were gone. Couldn't get away with anything!!!
Poppysky, thanks for the angel pictures!!! What a nasty thing to come home to!!! That would curdle my blood I think!! And probably turn me into a recluse at least till they caught the responsible party!!! YIKES!!! :o :o :o
Southerngale, glad the young lady was found!! That feeling in the pit of your stomach is the worst!!! Know it well! When our oldest(now 23) got lost in a Sears at 2 yrs of age, it was the worst feeling!!! She ended it by walking up to her mother and saying "Mommy, I think I'm lost."
Dennis, you're supposed to use computers, not fry them!!!
Stay off that foot some more!!! Give it time to heal!! I'm gonna have to put on a dress and come out there and act like a nag to get you well!! Tell Michelle I'll give her instructions if she needs them.
Well, the Honeydo's are multiplying again!! I knew better than to let the wife and daughter stay inside while I was working outside!! Now I have two big projects! They decided to rip all the wallpaper out of the main bath while I was outside getting the house ready for painting!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!! Fortunately we did not find the dry rot and mold we thought we would! We'll aonly have to replace a few portions of the drywall. Whew!!!
Seems I've written a novel here and I need to stop. My allergies have made it to my chest and I am hacking and coughing and feel lousy! With my luck I'll feel this way and have an interview in the morning! I am hoping for one. One of the headhunters called me friday afternoon about it. Keep everything crossed folks!!
To those I didn't mention by name, I still love ya!!! Hope EVERYONE has a BLESSED week!!!
