You are correct as last year the first storm formed at August 1.However this is another year and every season is different.It may well be a late season or an early season depending on some of the predictable factors.

I really thought the system that hit Hispaniola at the end of May last year deserved a name.
Chances are there'll be at least a few potential systems for us all to obsess over whilst waiting for the heart of the season.
