I have a few questions about "24"

#1 Postby GalvestonDuck » Mon May 09, 2005 8:43 pm

Okay, if I understand correctly, this show is done in "real time" - an hour-long episode tells the story of what happens to these characters during an hour of their "time." Each season is 24 episodes long or one complete "day." And the show has been on for 4 seasons (ending later this month).

So, in essence, if these were real life events, only 4 days would have passed since the first time we met the CTU crew and Jack, right?

From what I can tell, the first show dealt with terrorists planning to kill a presidential candidate before the primaries in California. Now, less than three days later, a Chinese consul has been killed and there's a missile crisis at hand.

My questions:
1) Are we to believe they resolved the assassination problem within such a short amount of time?
2) In less than a "day" (season), will the Chinese have already forgotten about the kidnapping attempt/assassination at their consulate? (IOW, next year, won't it have been forgotten?)
3) In four "days," have any of these characters slept or are we to believe they've been up for 96 hours straight? Seriously, hasn't Jack been in every episode?

Sorry, but I've only watched one other episode (and I don't remember much about it). I'm trying to watch it, but I'm lost.

Well, you got part of it right.

It is done in real time, so each episode is one hour of their time. If it goes to commercial break at 7:45, it will return at like 7:49 and you've missed 4 minutes of what they're doing. Each season is one complete day. You got that part right.

But it all hasn't happened in 4 consecutive days. I believe it's a little over a year between Season 1 and Season 2. I know that it's over 3 years between Season 2 and Season 3. I'm not sure exactly how long between Season 3 and Season 4, but within a few years or so because the President in Season 4 was running for President during Season 3.

I can't imagine trying to start watching it now. There's no doubt you'd be lost as a goose, er, I mean a duck.

The show is awesome. My advice: rent or buy Season 1 and start from there. Seriously. Watch a few episodes a night or whenever you have time. Then you can be ready for Season 5 with the rest of us. I think you'll really like it. :)

Ah! Well, now it makes sense!

I was wondering how believable it could be to have all these characters awake for days on end.

I'll try to give the first season a shot, but I can't promise anything. :)

As realistic as they try to make "24" to real time, it isn't totally obviously lol.

As Kelly said, it's not 4 consecutive days.

I think that the show is great, but with all of the twists and turns that each episode has it starts to seem alittle far fetched.

Is there anyone here that just wants to smack Audrey????

President Logan is a wimp!!

I do!!

I understand her emotional involvement, but with her position so high in the DOD, you'd expect more professionalism than kicking and screaming at Jack "YOU KILLED PAUL"

Hello? Shouldn't she of all people understand what's at stake here? And didn't Jack just save her whiney life a few hours ago?

Too bad she wasn't the one on that bed. Paul was much more bearable.

Oh, and President Logan had to be a wimp. How else could we get Palmer back? Image

No, I think that would be Chloe. I love her. She's a hoot!

I looked it up -- Chloe is the one I'm thinking about. Does she have a problem? Why is she always pouting? (Edit -- you posted while I was typing. :) I guess I need to watch a few more to see what she's all about.)

Audrey is played by Kim Raver, who played Kim Zambrano on "Third Watch." Yeah, I've seen her on 24 too. She's the same person on both shows -- always, always crying. I don't think anyone EVER cried more than Kim did on Third Watch. Cry, cry, cry, cry, cry. Argh!

Gonna nickname her "Faucet Face." That's what the Facts of Life cast used to call Nancy McKeon because she could turn on the tears just like that. :)

 How do you really feel Kelly!!

I couldn't agree more with what you said. She has been so wishy-washy.

I LOVE President Palmer! What I can't buy is that the other President (I can't remember his name) picked A WIMP to fill in for him if he couldn't do his job? Are you serious? I'm surprised Logan even had the balls to try and get elected for anything.

I was so proud of Chloe last week gunning that terrorist down!!
