Will Recon go and investigate 90L system this afternoon?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Will Recon go and investigate 90L system this afternoon?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Wed Jun 08, 2005 6:15 am

They are with a plan to go early this afternoon but will it be cancelled or not?

I say no as I dont see yet a well defined LLC but first visible pics can show if there is one or not.

I say yes. Because I see a broad low forming...In the system is becoming much better oreganized. With convection forming around it.

I say yes...mainly because I think it would be a good training mission for them. It's a nice...easy mission to get your teeth wet on. The training missions they conduct in April and May are usually done in clear sky (it's a boring flight...the "coolness" wears off after about 5 hours.

Nope...and they had their 'training missions' off the pacific coast just a few weeks ago...grin. I would expect them in there about when it is closer to the Yucatan gap to give CUN and CZM a heads up as well as western Cuba.

I'm going to go with yes, it appears to be very slowly organizing.

I said yes since most of the models are picking up on something. If not today, then tomorrow.

Said yes.. think the combination of Air Force Met's thoughts, firing convection, and model runs will make them stay with a big ol' GREEN GO FOR LAUNCH on this one.

Early this morning I'd said no but it does seem to be getting it's act together. Probably a weak T.D. this afternoon

It's gotten better organzied this morning. What if it gets better organized this afternoon? Then we have to wait for another plane tomorrow afternoon to find out what's going on in there. I remember one system in the Eastern Carribean a few years ago did that and they had to classify later in the day as a TD without the plane because it was cancelled in the morning.

It's a done deal apparently.

Surface observations and satellite imagery indicate that the broad
area of low pressure in the western Caribbean is gradually becoming
better organized...and a tropical depression appears to be forming
between Honduras and the Cayman Islands. Upper level winds are
becoming more favorable for development...and this system could
become a tropical storm during the next day or two as it moves
slowly northward. An Air Force Reserve unit reconnaissance aircraft
is scheduled to investigate this system later today.
Even if the
system does not develop...heavy rains and gusty winds will be
affecting the Cayman Islands...Jamaica...Cuba...and the Yucatan
Peninsula during the next couple of days.
