Around 3am Sunday after looking at sattelite loops I had decided this was probably or tropical or subtropical depression. A Storm2k forecaster reviewed the loops and agreed. Derek had a good point; It would have had a one advisory lifespean. And it was never a serious threat at least no more so than the coastal storms we see here in the off season. A few more hours over warm water and we may have been talking about a surprise TS now instead of a short lived TD that was never officially classified.

Is possible that the National Hurricane Center could upgrade this disturbance to TD or STD when they do the best track.

That's what most depressions are. I think the bigger question with me, is if it is tropical or subtropical.

I'm getting heavy rain currently with this disturbance along with breezy conditions. My question is, did it or did it not make landfall.

It was never classified as a tropical cyclone. The circulation did come ashore over NC, and in fact it developed the closed circulation while it was inland.

Maybe that happened because of the heat and tropical moisture deposited to it. To me it seemed to be quite organized yesterday afternoon, with a significant amount of convection at one point. They should classify it as something, but I guess NHC thinks it's a waste of time.

That gust was due to a large seagull burping directly into the anemometer.
