One thing to keep in mind here is the history of late of these models to over emphasize the subtropical ridging early on. We saw it with Arlene, Cindy and very much so with Dennis, it wasn't till the NOAA IV Jet sampled the ridge that the models began to get it right. I'm not sold yet on the forecast for a MX. strike.

ATMOSPHERE WILL REMAIN ABOUT THE SAME FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...SO WILL KEEP LOW POPS GOING THROUGH MOST OF THE PERIOD. EMILY COULD BE A SIGNIFICANT PLAYER IN N TEXAS WEATHER THIS TIME NEXT WEEK...POSSIBLY EARLY NEXT WEEK...AS MODELS BRING THE
HURRICANE TO THE YUCATAN PENINSULA MONDAY MORNING. LONG RANGE MODELS HAVE ALSO BACKED OFF ON THE ADVERTISED FRONT YESTERDAY. THUS...A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY WITH THE LATER PART OF THE FORECAST.
PERSISTENCE USUALLY RULES IN SUMMER AND WE WILL NOT BEND THE RULES YET.
Apparently the DFW NWS and the UKMET folks don't read the boards here. Emily going to Texas? Nah!

I've seen this in a couple of threads. Can someone explain to me what you mean?
Hi P.K. New Orleans is thought by many outside of the town to be the ultimate party city. Party Central would be the several blocks along and away from the Mississippi River called the French Quarter.
At the heart of the French Quarter is Bourbon Street, where the majority of the debauchery occurs. It's also where most tourists go during Mardi Gras (or any other time of year) to get drunk, watch women show their chesticles for beads, see the transvestites, the silver human statues, people of all manner of dress and activities...It's a fun time. But never wear open-toed shoes because there is some funky stuff in the gutters.
Here's a live webcam on Bourbon Street: http://www.nola.com/bourbocam/classic/
It's a lot more fun to watch in the late evening though.

We south Louisiana locals refer to that noxious liquid substance as "gras du". It's the the funkiest thing in N'awlins, particularly during a rainy carnival season.
Oh yeah, I had to burn the last pair of flip flops I wore on burbon street. I scrubbed my feet for hours!

Heh, it was quite plentiful during the Miss State - Tulane game early in the fall a couple of years ago, too
