GFS (very long range) out to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day carves out a deep upper level trough across the Eastern CONUS. A 1035 mb Arctic High is shown building down into the Plains, with a winter storm across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, then moving into SE Canada. Also, for the first time, the 540 thickness line drops all the way south into North Florida. Should this come to fruition, this could bring finally the first freeze of the season in my neck of the woods.
I hate looking very far out as much will change or the GFS may possibly drop this solution all together, but I am hoping that this somehow will come close to fruition and we will get a nice cold Christmas after such a long mild/warm spell which has lasted all the way into the meteorological winter.
Just anxious for some winter weather to finally come!!
