Replacement name for Jeanne?

#1 Postby LAwxrgal » Sun Sep 26, 2004 5:39 am

This storm name will almost certainly be retired, especially since it caused massive loss of life and made landfall as a major, suggestions for a replacement welcome.

It can't be Jeffrey unless they re-do the entire series (not a bad plan...Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne all need to go)

Since some people won't like Jezebel, which is what I think Jeanne should be named due to the darn thing coming back after we thought it was gunna go nicely along and be a fish last week, we could go with Jeanette or Jennifer

Julie or Julia. Maybe Joanne, but I think that is too similar to Jeanne. So, Julie is my guess. Jennifer seems like a given though LOL.

Yes, I know...I am being a little silly here, since I am not liking this storm at the moment.

Yes, it has to be a female name.

As has been noted here in the last few days, there have been times that the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) has chosen names similar names.

We will have Joyce in 2006 and Josephine in 2008.

In 2000, Joyce moved south of the Leeward and Windward islands and approached western Venezuela before dissipating. There were 28 advisories (six intermediate advisories). The storm peaked at 80 knots.

In 2002, Josephine remained out in the open Atlantic. There were only 8 advisories issued on this system. The storm peaked at 50 knots.

What I meant Tom was that if Jeanne was retired.. Jeanette cannot be a name because it is too close to Jeanne...

Ivan will be retired as will Gaston...probably Frances.

Jeanne is gone and Im still irked about the Ivan thing so how about replacing Jeanne with JIVIN...kinda a tribute to Max Mayfield

My opinion SO FAR for 2010 list of names:

Alex
Bonnie
Clayton
Danielle
Earl
Fiona
Gaston
Hermine
Ian
Jennifer
Karl
Lisa
Matthew
Nicole
Otto
Paula
Richard
Shary
Tomas
Virginie
Walter

(Gaston, If retired, which I am not expecting, the name Gary for replacement would be my guess)
