New addition to the FSU model Page...

Not sure if anyones noticed the new addition to the FSU model page but it now has HWRF model on it.

HWRF is suppose to replace the GFDL this year and it is supposed to be much better than the GFDL with higher resolution.

Is this HWRF good for both track and intensity? Why would they do away with GFDL when we use it for track?

yep, thats the new model... glad we did not have to look all over hell's half acre looking for it... now we will see what it has in it...

It won't replace the GFDL this year, it'll be run side-by-side with the GFDL for testing purposes. The HWRF has proven just a little more accurate than the GFDL out to 72 hours but it still lags behind the GFDL beyond 72 hours, at least according to papers presented last March at the 61st Interdepartmental Hurricane Conference in New Orleans. There are a number of presentations online here:
