#1 Postby Yankeegirl » Sat Feb 18, 2006 10:24 am

BBRRRR! Its cold outside! Definately a change from the high on Thursday of 85, its now sitting at 43 and expected to drop to the 30's as the cold air scoots in later on this evening... Also a nice note, the NOAA has put up a hazardous weather outlook for the area... Nice!

Actually as of 9am it is 42F at both Hooks and IAH...and it FINALLY seems like dewpoints are dropping. I expect the NWS's "ice line" to come further southward if this trend continues. Both the GFS and ETA show ice reaching northern Houston tomorrow morning.

It is 40º and falling here in the Spring Branch area near BW8 and I10. Doesn't look like it is going to be a very nice day, especailly if the rains move in.

Here is an update from the NWS in Houston:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
934 AM CST SAT FEB 18 2006

.UPDATE...
SHALLOW COLD ADVECTION CONTINUES THIS MORNING AND TEMPS HAVE
FALLEN EVERYWHERE IN CWA THROUGH 15Z.
RADAR SHOWS SCATTERED LIGHT
RAIN IN WARM ADVECTION LAYER JUST ABOVE THE ARCTIC LAYER. EXPECT
THIS TO CONTINUE TODAY AND TONIGHT. WINDS HAVE BEEN RUNNING A BIT
ABOVE FORECAST NEAR THE COAST ADDING TO THE RAW FEEL TO THE AIR
TODAY. MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO GRIDS OTHERWISE NO CHANGES TO ONGOING
FORECAST. BIG CONCERN FOR US WILL BE WHERE (IF?) TEMPS GO BELOW
FREEZING OVERNIGHT AND IF AND HOW MUCH RAIN CONTINUES INTO THE
FREEZING AIR.
BELOW DISCUSSION STILL APPLIES.
