I can't wait to see this evening's model runs. I think it will start to align things rather succinctly... I hope.

dean wrote:just finished my forecast for the upper midwest on my site, here it is:

Strong area of low pressure will slowly move across the midwest from Thursday-Monday. This system looks as though it will produce a lot of precipitation. Right now it is still to early to say whether the precip. for the Twin Cities area will be rain, ice, or snow. All three are very possible, as temps will be hovering right around the 32 degree mark through the duration of the storm. Southern Minnesota and places further south look like they will receive mostly rain, but if the temp does stay below freezing for the entire storm, we may pick up over a foot of snow according to the latest model runs from the College of DuPage.

Check your PM dean.

NWS is playing the storms down, now. Kinda "iffy", like the big 1" snow we were
forecast to get the day after Christmas. Again, on that day, we'll see what
happens (old farmer lickin' his finger and sticking it up into the wind)...

There are sections of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma that are really taking this storm on the chin.

One location in Oklahoma was mentioned earlier on the news had 6 ft. snow drifts and nearly the entire city had lost power. That would be a horrible feeling.

Just heard 10 foot drifts in Colorado as the sun is shining in Denver.. Sounds like the Metro escaped the brunt of the system. I-70 is closed going into Kansas..

Goodland, Kansas and Albuquerque, New Mexico have both seen some of their largest snowstorms on record. Do we have anyone from those areas?

At this time Saturday, it appeared only an inch or less of snow was expected. Today, reports from the region indicate amounts as high as almost 7 inches. Blowing and drifiting snow as well.
