how to make a blizzard?

Ok...So i was reading the Denver forecast discussion and its looks like we havea good chance of rain come Sunday with strong upslope developing as Low pressure moves over the SE part of the state into Kansas. My question is that, of course we are getting into the time of year when MOST of the precip here should be falling as snow. october is somewhat of a transition month. Anyway, the forecaster mentioned that the cold air wasnt in place so the low would have to "bring" or "make" its own cold air. it does appear from GFS there will be some cooling behind the low, but the question is I guess, how much? I have seen it snow here in Denver quite a few times with temps a cood bit above freezing...so I guess my question is, what has to happen for us to get some snow out of this system this weekend. They are already calling for snow down to around 7500 feet,and this bad boy looks like it could get wound up pretty good(of course this weekends storm was supposed to have done this too, but it didnt). This may be one of those situations where you have a foot at 10,000 feet and rain at 6000 i guess....insight? Anybody an expert on winter storms and topgraphical effects with mountains, high terrain, etc?

Its going to depend on how strong the storm gets. I would imagine that the 750-800mb temps will be just a bit too warm. (thats about 6500-7500 feet)

Snowing at SFC with the temps being above 32F. Check out a local Skew-T, the "Wet Builb 0" may be lower than the actual freeze level.

The low making cold air...look to your north-west, the counter clockwise rotation (anticyclonic) of a low pressure brings lowers temps.
