Re: 2008-09 Texas Winter Weather Thread
Wichita Falls is a tad above freezing, but the dewpoint is 25ºF, and thunderstorms approach. But will they mix down warmer air and keep the normal process of evaporational cooling from bringing a brief taste of Winter to Kamay, Texas, home of the late 1930s Pennsylvanian Strawn oil boom?

Not sure where to post this...so I thought I post this here -
14 February 1895 → Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana were paralyzed during the Gulf Coast Blizzard that dumped 31 inches of snow in twenty-four hours in some areas. Some snow drifts were 6 feet deep. Galveston recorded an incredible 15.4 inches of snow and both Houston and Beaumont had a whopping 20 inches.
Found this on the NWS Louisville website under this day in weather history.

Local met Steve LaNore has the following tidbit in his daily weather blog on KXII.com: "An arctic air mass is still in the cards sometimes late next week, but a lot can happen in nine days so we’ll just hide and watch for now."
Any shades of last year when N. Texas got two early March snowstorms in the same week? I sure hope so!

Saw today where Joe Lundberg at Accuweather is talking about a warm up in the Rockies and Plains early next week, but he also notes that a frigid air mass is going to build in western Canada.
Maybe one last gasp of winter for Texas?

C'mon Snowman, been outside lately? Dude, it is spring!
Let me save you a lot of heartache and misery right now ... the phrases "Arctic outbreak," "Cold airmass down the Plains," and "Snow or ice for Texas" ... just put 'em away until next November. Listen to ol' Pete Townshend and "don't get fooled again!"

Re: 2008-09 Texas Winter Weather Thread
Yesterday it was 91 degrees here in Austin. Less than 24 hours later, we're at 44 degrees at 8 a.m. with a north wind 20 gusting to 30. Wind chills in the mid 30s. What I wouldn't give for a temperature drop of another 10-12 degrees and a cold-core upper level low moving left to right across our state's midsection.
