MAJOR icestorm on tap for georgia/FINALLY ffc gets a clue

#1 Postby lookout » Sun Jan 25, 2004 10:45 pm

Folks, as ive been harping on for the last few days on wwbb, ffc has been out to lunch...in another country, the last few days. but finally tonight they take the appropriate action based on VERY consistant eta runs of showing 24 to28 degree temps ALL day tomorrow for all of northeast Ga and recent runs showing north central georgia into atlanta as well getting these temps.this could go down in the record books, not only for the carolinas but georgia as well, especially the eastern sections with very low surface temps at 12z of near 24 to 25 (east of athens)off setting, or mostly so, very warm 850mb temps of 10c. with 1 to 2 inch rainfall amounts per eta/gfs respectively and continued light freezing rain all night per radar, 1 to 1.5 inch freezing rain accrettions are not out of the question from athens up to jefferson to gainesville eastward, with 0.5 to 1 inch east side of atlanta east to winder.
