More Snow for the Midwest and Northeast


A disturbance tracking southeastward out of the upper Midwest will be over northeast Kentucky this evening, then deepen into a big storm off the Maryland-Delaware coast later tonight and tomorrow morning. This system will tap into the moisture coming up through the Tennessee Valley and Atlantic Ocean moisture. Snow amounts in the Midwest, in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia will be one to as much as three inches. The heaviest snow with this storm will be in east-central Pennsylvania and in central New Jersey, where the storm will total 6-10 inches. Surrounding this heavy snow area as far south as the southern counties of Pennsylvania and as far north as the Poconos and New York City and Long Island, 3-6 inches seem likely. One to three inches will extend up into the northern tier of Pennsylvania, up into southern New England and as far south as northern Maryland, northern Delaware and the mountains of of eastern West Virginia. As for the timing of this latest snow event, it will occur during the day in the Midwest and will begin this afternoon in western Pennsylvania. The heavy snow east of the Appalachians will occur overnight, into tomorrow morning.

Moisture streaming into the Pacific Northwest will mean 6-12 inches of snow in the Washington Cascades today at elevations above 2,500 feet.
