Well, it was a very cold winter, so there was a long duration snowcover, but although it was a banner winter in northern MI, here in southern MI it was lacking much exciting storminess.
For favorite event it would be the Jan. 14th "superclipper". This was the strongest Alberta Clipper I have ever seen. These types of systems are usually 1-4" snow producers, but this one clobbered MI. I measured 5.8" from that one, and Detroit Metro, which is Detroits official station, only had 4.7", but Metro Airport is in Romulus, which is SW of Detroit city...totals out of the actual city of Detroit were around 7", with north suburbs of the city getting 8-11". Flint had 9.8". This storm caused an hour and a half delay to the Detroit Pistons game because the Refs and the visiting team all arrived after the scheduled start of the game because the storm had them in gridlock traffic (the storm was at its heaviest during evening rush hour).
A close 2nd for me would be Mar 16/17, when I measured 5.9" with a few 2 ft drifts (so windy it was hard to measure). Detroit Metro had 3.9" with a few other 5-6" reports in the south suburbs, but north of Detroit it was a miniscule 1-3" event.

We recently moved from Florida to Missouri and I was in awe of the snow. One night in February, I think it was the 4th, it started snowing around 6 p.m. and kept going through the night and into the next day, for a total of about 8 1/2 inches, with even higher drifts. Locals here said it was the most they had seen at once in years. My kids and I had a blast sledding, although the snow was too soft to get very far. I have a pic but it's not posted on a website so I don't know how to insert it here. Any hints?
