NE MA Winter Outlook

Well here is my take.

The End of November will be a major roller coaster. up untill the middle of Dec. it shall stay that way as well. But i do see the light maybe witht he NAO tanking and staying that way for a while. Only problem is seing the systems now with the Negative Tilt to them there might be a bit of more inland runners. But 2 major East Coastal Storms 2 memorable storms to say the least. I would say for the Season totals for these key East Coast Cities.

Portland, ME 30-45 with also some rainy times.
Boston,Mass 30-40
NYC 30-35 But could be higher second chance #'s 35-50
Philadelphia,Pa 30-40
Baltimore , MD 25-35
Washington,DC 25-30
Pittsburg,PA 30-45 isolated higher amounts n/w
Richmond,VA 10-15 ICE Storms 3
Raliegh,NC 5-10 ICE Storms 3

But this si mostly coming in from the end of Dec. to Mid March.

Alot of Clippers bringing those 1-3 or 2-4 inchers.

But with those storms it will be interesting.

I will have other areas listed in other Posts. By Regions.

Unforunately Places like the Addorondacks (sorry i am bad at spelling) and Albany NY will se 50-75 inches easy. With Isolated higher amounts.

Buffalo will see one huge Lake Effect Snow Event more closer to Christmas time.

But Lake Effect is hard to really nail.

Basically the Temps will follow about for the Seaon about -2 Bellow Average.

With soem great warm times. But the Cold Shots will be bitterly cold. Could see some records fall for sure.

Thanks LMolineux, although I believe Boston and Portland will make out better than you are predicting. IMO Boston will be closer to 50 inches of snow and Portland to 60 or 65 inches. Otherwise, it looks good.

Well here we are As of March 19th 2004.

I Sit at 38 inches on the season.

ERT on WWBB holds my varification as he lives in Philadelphia and recorded 34 inches. So i completely varified on Philly and surrounding areas. NYC i was glad i did the second chance thing because i again nailed them. Suppressed storms screwed alot of my other forecasts up. Also the northern end i wasnt sure about and blew. But overall not to to bad.

Nope i didnt but heard it was possibly from what i have heard was flase reporting. Oh well no skin off my back. Other wise Troy how did i do from Nov. 10th?

Only 18" down my way for the Winter.....Weatherfox claimed it was because of false reports, just thought you may have wanted to know.

I Am sorry some places got the royal shaft job this winter PHL airport also included. But overall Troy how did i do in overall forecasting from Nov. 10th? Why would i post false reports is all wierd to me? Itisnt good to do so even in any case. I want to try and gain respect in the community and it isnt happening.

I'm not saying you did, but I do find it hard to believe you were at 34 deg. & Snow when you said you were. Again I'm not saying you weren't but not one observation around you had anything lower than 37 deg. when you made that ob.

I'm happy with my Winter, I'm in south jersey so I never expect as much as even Phila.

I'm not talented enough to make a Winter forcast, I study the models/soundings & just go from there. Last night I told the Phila. crowd that the Storm would bust & they weren't happy at all. It was just too warm at the surface.

Keep in mind that my 34 inches are very anomalous-26'' of them fell when I still lived in my old location out in Chester County, which is one of the snowier areas in the region, and 8'' came in the last week here at my new location in Chestnut Hill, which is inside the city but the highest elevation in the city at about 600' and thus snowier than the city as a whole. Most totals in the area are lower than 34'', especially inside the city and in the closer suburbs

Well on Nantucket we had an amount of 18 inches of Snow!!!!!!! first wave was st. patricks day, and we got 8 inches of snow (at my house) and on the 19th we got 10 inches, went sledding the next day on the flexible flyer, and i was sledding with short sleeves on ( it was 40) the snow was gone by the afternoon. the cape got nothing.
