A lot more snow than we've been getting I hope. We've had all this rain, I sure hope the snow comes down the same way.

MattX,

It looks like this is going to be a very good winter for eastern Kentucky and for most of the state as well. In looking back on years that have similar global indicies to this one, I find some interesting facts. Most tended to be cold and snowy for Kentucky.

The years that are on my analog radar are 1977,1969 1963 and 2002. All of those were colder and snowy than normal. 1977/78 was the winter by which I measure all winters on in eastern Kentucky. I was only 5 at the time and remember it fairly well. Bitterly cold and amazing snows. One of the snowiest on record. The other winters all featured prolonged periods of cold with frequent snows. All of those winters except 02/03 featured at least one snowstorm. 02/03 had the devestating ice storm for me in Lexington and still managed to be about 10" above in snowfall.

Overall, our number is up this winter. We SHOULD see a very good winter with an increased threat of a snowstorm.

BTW, where in eastern Ky are you located?

Take care!

Go Cats! (In b-ball, that is!)

Gonna have to keep up with you guys when we get closer to Christmas. I go back to Lexington every year and it will be nice to know how it is up there before I head north.
