12z GFS unleashes

#1 Postby aggiecutter » Sun Nov 21, 2004 1:23 pm

the arctic hound east of the Rockies next week. Checkout hours 168 through 384. Normally, I would disregard anything on the GFS past day 7, but this pretty well coincides with where this pattern has been heading for the past 2 weeks.

I am a doubter most of the time... but I agree that this is in line with my thinking, too. It may be slightly overdone though.

GFS is bad about long range forecast, I have seen this type of thing already this November with a big push of cold air headed south only to get shot down 24 hours later.

Today's Ensembles back it up. Plus the source regions of air will change from Polar Pacific to Arctic early next week. The devil is still in the details but things are looking good the next couple weeks.
