Weather in Colorado First Week of January

#1 Postby Steve H. » Wed Nov 24, 2004 1:13 pm

Question for the forum. I'm going to Colorado the first week of January, hopefully to ski. Anyone know the long range forecasts for the period dec 29 thru january 9th? hoping to se some snow  With the talk of ridging out west, will it be too warm there? Or is it cold enough in the mountains to offset that? Any help would be appreciated since I've never been out there before.

What part of the area are you going to? The weather can vary from year to year. I remember going out in both 1980 and 1981. One year was warm and didn't have much snow so the ski slopes had low bases. The next year there was a lot of snow and the skiing was great. This was in the Breckenridge area.

You won't have a thing to worry about, those mountains out there get snow through late May. The Pacific Jet will be so strong, that not only will you get snow, you'll have a ten day blow with over 12 feet of snow from a mean Pacific storm. Trust me on this, you'll have more than enough snow to ski on.

The Appalachian Mts are NOT the place to be this winter, but if you live in those Rockies, you will be beside yourself with joy!! Guaranteed!!

There's no such an animal as no snow in the Rockies for skiing.

The Ridge will relax by mid Dec... I hope it won't be as big...
