Nov.22,2004

“Up to 3 feet of snow fell in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains east of Los Angeles. Snow closed Interstate 15 through the Cajon Pass northwest of Los Angeles, along with several roads in San Bernardino County. As much as a foot of snow covered desert areas of northern San Bernardino County, while 6 inches fell in many desert communities including Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms.

Actually the San Gabriel Mountains go up to at least 9500 feet, which encompasses Angeles National Forest. They always have snow up there. They just don't have it below 4000 foot level...

Youre right w/the snow level below 4k ft for just about any winter but this one.....the snow has still not melted for many elevations above 2500 feet....thats some of the reason why this recent cold snap has been breaking records....for instance at the 2500 foot level the low temps have been averaging in the upper teens to mid 20s for the last week.....right after the deluge of snow.....
