The ridge cometh!

#1 Postby azsnowman » Tue Dec 07, 2004 8:07 am

Well, it appears the strong ridge is setting up starting Thursday! To be really honest, a few days of above normal temps will actually feel GOOD, I mean, 4 weeks straight of temps BELOW normal by some 20° at times, my winter wood pile is going down FAST! This break may allow me to go and cut one more load of wood "just in case!" The wettest, coldest part of the winter isn't even CLOSE to being here.

WE WILL PUT IN 40-50 POPS FOR NOW...WITH A FEW AREAS SEEING AN INCH OF SNOW OVERNIGHT. THIS WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED CLOSELY AS PROCESSES SUCH AS SEEDER-FEEDER AND UPSLOPE COULD MAKE FOR ISOLATED SPOTS OF HEAVIER SNOW. THIS SYSTEM MOVES QUICKLY EAST WEDNESDAY MORNING...AND THEN A STRONG STORM IN THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL PUMP A HUGE RIDGE INTO THE SOUTHWEST FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FORECAST PERIOD. INITIALLY...EASTERLY FLOW AND SNOW COVER WILL HAMPER THE WARMING...BUT BY NEXT WEEKEND...THESE FACTORS WILL DISSIPATE...AND FULL MIXING WILL YIELD HIGHS AS MUCH AS 10 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. PETERSON. && .FGZ WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...NONE.
