BEACH WEATHER 1/13/05---- DEEP FREEZE BY THE WEEKEND---SNOW?
THE PATTERN IS GETTING READY TO SLAP US IN THE FACE NEXT WEEK AS UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVES TO THE SOUTH AN EAST....FINALLY WINTER IS COMING BACK.....SNOW ALSO IN THE FORECAST AS SLUGGISH ARTIC BOUNDARY SETS UP CAMP ALONG EASTERN SEABOARD....JSB

Latest models indicate a zonal flow through most of January...the one exception is the extreme Northeast. Even the Pacific Northwest escaped the highly-advertised arctic outbreak. The current ridge along 150W is alot weaker and thus will not tap into the extreme arctic air in Canada. Yesterday's models brought extreme arctic air down through the Pacific Northwest, eventually shifted it east and down through the South. Today, they show NO ARCTIC air spilling south out of Canada...except in the extreme north. And longer-range guidance points to an arctic blast in the Northeast but nowhere else in the country. So I don't think North Carolina will be seeing any snow/cold weather anytime soon. Just be lucky you saw some snow...Seattle hasn't seen any.
