Good News Eastern Kentuckians! Storm Possibilities

#1 Postby Matt31388 » Mon Jan 17, 2005 6:52 pm

This was posted today by a local meteorologist on his weather blog.

Read:

Midnight special! Snow showers are finally winding down across eastern Kentucky late on this Sunday evening. Many areas picked up a quick half inch this evening as these snow showers were pumped up! Maybe they know the baseball players personal trainer. lol Anyway... here in Lexington about 1.5" is now on the ground here at the station. The cold has been touched on already and single digits look good for the next couple of mornings.

Clipper mania continues this week with a small snowfall possible Wednesday and Thursday and perhaps an out and out storm on Saturday. This looks like a situation where the Wednesday clipper really strengthens across eastern Canada and forms into what basically becomes a block in the atmosphere. That forces the next clipper farther west as it dives from the upper plains into Missouri and then across the Tennessee valley on Saturday. All the time... drawing up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. It then transfers energy to a coastal low off the Carolinas with the upper level low sitting right on top of us. All of this adds up to the potential for a significant winter storm across Kentucky on Saturday. This one will be getting my full attention over the next few days!!!!

Until we meet again... enjoy the snow and cold!
