snow in Cape May County, NJ

#1 Postby jude » Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:49 pm

uh oh
the 'chance of flurries' has become almost an inch already. Roads bad.
24 degrees . winds sw light.

Big surprise here.

Maybe it will acclimate people for what the weekend may have in store for them.

Here in the city we had some light flurries for most of the afternoon...but I can confirm that within the last hour -- more specifically within the last 10 minutes -- things have picked up considerably.

At 5:30 PM, moderate to heavy snow -- flakes up to .25-.50 inch diameter. Trace accumulation right now on cars/trees, but most everything melting on the street.

Updates may follow...

7:30 PM...

Ok, things kinda died down soon after the last post, but around 6:30 PM the snow really picked up again -- I'm talking heavy snow, .5-inch flakes. That's pretty much been going on for the last hour straight. Looks awesome out there I may say so.

Hi! It was coming down pretty hard in Atlantic City in the afternoon. The trip home to Gloucester County wasn't too bad.

Do wish this Twp had a handle on road maintenence...if there was a brain among them they might decide to do some judicious salting this afternoon to stay ahead of things.
As it is they do nothing and we will have much ice under whatever comes to us this weekend. perhaps a phone call is in order.

Still looking quite possible for a big dump here...
